Skipper Dale Kushner

Dale has been sailing most of his life and is no stranger to long distance racing. He has won many national and provincial titles and has been awarded colours a number of times. He has any successes both local and abroad. He is the holder of a Yachts master offshore qualification. Dale is very focused on this race and believes with the right boat, crew, routing and a bit of luck his team are in with a very strong chance.

Hans Kuijt

Hans Resides in the UAE, he brings to the team a wealth of experience specifically in the satellite communications arena. This will allow us the ability to keep everyone updated and giving us access to good weather forecasting systems. Hans was part of the winning crew. Dale which won the Imate Round the „World“ Race in the UAE.(The Dubai World) and has competed with Dale in the Muscat Race-Dubai to Muscat(Oman).




Ian Coward


Ian Coward

Ian has been sailing with Dale for the last 20 years, together they have extensive sailing together. Ian in his own right is a qualified skipper who has competed on the dinghy and keelboat circuits successfully. Ian brings to the team a wealth of technical expertise necessary aboard.




Leroy Rudolf

Leroy Rudolf

Leroy is 23 years old. He is studying a diploma in Boat building and will be the very first class in South Africa to graduate with a full diploma later this year. His specialty is Composite works.. Leroy has competed in most events held in and around the Cape with good results being obtained. His longest voyage to date is the Mossel Bay Race. He has competed twice overseas in the China Cup Regatta with good results.  Leroy’s role aboard for the Rio Race will be to run the foredeck and he will be one of the main helmsman.





Ruan de Hart
Ruan de Hart


Ruan is a electrical engineer, with a MScEng degree in UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), in other words Control Systems applied to aircraft.  He has been concentrating on 505 sailing the past few years and sails out of Volgelvlei Yacht Club. He is an easy to get on person who has a broad range of experience. His responsibilities aboard will be Mast and cockpit as well as some helming. He will also be responsible for systems aboard. After the race he will be taking a break from professional responsibilities and will be travelling. Amongst his varied background he has also represented South Africa in Karate 3 times.
